*Hymn of Praise
“My Hope Is Built”
O God of all people,
of all times, we are here in your house seeking your
presence, in our time of remembrance. We honor those who
have finished the race and have received their reward. But
at the same time we come here seeking you, O God, who was a
constant companion, a source of strength for those we honor.
We, too, need your guiding presence as we continue our race.
God, we pray that your mighty presence will be felt by all
who are gathered here this morning, as we are surrounded by
a cloud of witnesses. Amen.

It's not always easy to live the way God wants us to live.
It's not always easy to do what God wants us to

It's not always easy to find time to pray and read our

The scripture says there are people who can help us.
People who can help us? Who are they?
A "great cloud of witnesses" they are called -- people from
every time and place who have tried hard to live the way God
wanted them to.
That's the way we want to live!
We can learn from their lives how to be faithful to God.
Sometimes we call these people saints.
Saints! Can we be saints, too?
Yes! Saints aren't perfect people. When we try to do the
things that God wants us to do, when we love God and follow
Jesus, we can be saints, too.
Loving God, thank you for your saints in history
and those today who help show us what it means to live
according to your will. Help us to follow their example and
to be part of your cloud of witnesses. Amen.

Give us this day our daily bread.
